Hello current and potential XRevert users,
This is a statement regarding XRevert's compatibility with macOS 10.12 Sierra. You may have noticed in the release notes for version 3.0.1, which just came out, that macOS Sierra is still not supported. When we released version 3.0, we announced that Sierra compatibility would be 'coming soon,' and although it unfortunately did not make it into this release, it should be included in the next release or two.
The reason we have not made XRevert Sierra-compatible yet has to do with a critical bug, which we believe is a bug in macOS and not XRevert. Users trying to run XRevert on Sierra may notice that after running it once and restarting, they are unable to open the application again, as it crashes immediately after launching. This means that users would be unable to get back into the app to update it, if they decide to undo changes that they made using the app, or do anything else. For this reason, we recommend that users do not attempt to run current versions of XRevert on Sierra. This issue does not occur on OS X Yosemite or El Capitan.
We will investigate this issue further. If we determine that it is actually a bug in XRevert, we will fix it and roll out a Sierra compatibility update as soon as we can; otherwise, the timeline for the next release is likely contingent on future macOS beta releases, which will hopefully fix the issue.

XRevert 3.0.2 should be live any minute now. Good news, we have now introduced Sierra compatibility! As a precaution, we prevent it from running on Betas 1 through 5. Please update to Beta 6 of Sierra if you have not already. It will work on any later Sierra beta or official release as well.

The macOS bug that plagued the beta version of Sierra appears to have resurfaced in macOS 10.12.1. It worked OK on the original official release of Sierra (16A323), but the bug seems to have been reintroduced in 10.12.1. We have not done any testing on macOS 10.12.2 Beta yet.
At this time, we are declaring that XRevert is incompatible with macOS 10.12.1. This bug is out of our control, but we have notified Apple about it. We will check version 10.12.2 soon. In the meantime, if you purchased XRevert and are running macOS 10.12.1, please contact us if you encounter this issue. Symptoms of this issue would be XRevert crashing, with a macOS warning dialog saying that 'XRevert quit unexpectedly.' This is an issue with GateKeeper. After initially verifying the app, it should work indefinitely from that point forward. However, after the first run, when XRevert moves some files around in its package, it stops working after a restart. For some reason, it does not keep its 'verified' status even though it's supposed to. As a result, XRevert can still be used on macOS 10.12.1, but you will have to contact us for a fresh copy every time you open it. This is a nuisance, and hopefully Apple will fix this soon, but in the meantime, please do not purchase XRevert if you haven't already, unless you are using a macOS version other than 10.12.1. We will update this thread again when we determine that this has been resolved.
